As part of our programme of Continuous Professional Development, team members have been focussing on refreshing and adding to their professional knowledge. Usually done by in house workshops or seminars, during September we have been supported by external providers.
Edif ERA Earthing Solutions (part of RINA Consulting) delivered a two day course on power system earthing at our Colchester office. Standards concerning earthing are changing, with new concepts, design criteria and limit values. To ensure that we are up to date on all aspects of modern practice, design tools, measurement techniques and available technology we were taken through all aspects of the topic by Mark Davies, Head of Earthing Solutions at RINA. Nine from the team joined the course.
We have also taken steps to ensure that into the future we will be working at BIM (Building Information Modelling) level 2. For the uninitiated, BIM is the management of information through the whole life cycle of a built asset, from initial design all the way through to construction, maintaining and maintenance, through the use of digital modelling. Ernest and Pedro are leading on this.
