Energypeople Joins Ipsum Group to Expand Power Sector Capabilities

Energypeople is pleased to announce that it has joined Ipsum Group, creating an even stronger platform to support customers across the UK and international power sectors.

As part of Ipsum’s Power division, Energypeople will bring its specialist engineering consultancy, design and advisory expertise into a broader national engineering and infrastructure business. The combination enhances the capabilities available to customers across the full lifecycle of power infrastructure projects, from strategic planning and network design through to delivery, commissioning and long-term asset optimisation.

With offices across the north and south of the UK, Energypeople has built a strong reputation over decades for delivering specialist consultancy and engineering design services to electricity networks, utilities, developers, regulators and infrastructure owners. The company provides expertise across transmission and distribution networks, including network planning, engineering design, technical advisory services, regulatory support and asset management.

Joining Ipsum represents an exciting opportunity to combine Energypeople’s highly regarded consultancy and engineering design capabilities with Ipsum’s established infrastructure delivery expertise. Together, the businesses offer an enhanced end-to-end service, bringing strategic consultancy, engineering design and specialist infrastructure delivery under one organisation, supported by Ipsum’s national footprint.

Socky Maila, Managing Director of Energypeople, said:

“We are delighted to be joining Ipsum. Becoming part of the Group gives us access to a broader range of capabilities, clients and markets, enabling us to collaborate on larger and more complex projects while continuing to deliver the high standards of service for which Energypeople is known.

This partnership strengthens our ability to support the UK’s energy transition and critical infrastructure programmes, while also creating exciting career development opportunities for our people within a growing national engineering and infrastructure business.

Most importantly, our customers can be assured that it will be business as usual. Like Energypeople, Ipsum is a highly customer-focused organisation, and maintaining continuity of service for our clients, professional partners and stakeholders remains our highest priority.”

Andrew Cowan, Chief Executive Officer of Ipsum Group, added:

“The acquisition of Energypeople is another important step in strengthening Ipsum’s Power division and broadening the expertise we can offer our customers. Their highly respected consultancy and engineering design capabilities complement our existing infrastructure delivery services, enabling us to support customers from the earliest stages of network planning and design through to construction, commissioning and long-term asset management.

As investment in the UK’s electricity networks continues to accelerate, bringing Energypeople into the Group enhances our ability to deliver integrated, technically led solutions that help customers meet the challenges of network resilience, decarbonisation and the energy transition.”

Energypeople will continue operating within Ipsum’s Power division, supporting customers across the electricity and wider energy sectors while retaining the collaborative, technically focused approach that has underpinned its success.

Together, Energypeople and Ipsum are well positioned to help customers address the challenges and opportunities of a rapidly evolving energy landscape, delivering innovative solutions that support network resilience, infrastructure investment and the transition to a low-carbon future.
