Simon is an experienced Manager, Consultant, Lecturer, Coach, Seminar Leader and Negotiator with a career spanning some thirty-five years in the power sector.

As a member of the leadership team (as Head of Human Resources at Eastern Group until 1999), Simon was responsible for the growth and transformation of a state-owned regional electricity utility into a major European energy company operating in competitive electricity and gas markets.

Simon has a wealth of experience of managing change, including acquisitions, disposals, restructuring and privatisation, performance improvement projects, large-scale recruitment and redundancy programmes and the introduction of new pay, conditions and work regimes.

As a Consultant, Simon has a track record in knowledge transfer and building capability in new and developing businesses, change management and restructuring in mature businesses, and the conduct of due diligence of operational reviews in the sector. He is an experienced Technical Author of reports on the power industry matters.

In addition to his work as an adviser in the power sector, Simon is a member of the UK’s Central Arbitration Committee (which deals with, among other things, employment disputes), and a Lecturer in Human Resources and Strategy at a UK regional university (www.uos.ac.uk). From 2003 to 2012, Simon was an Independent Assessor for Public Appointments (auditing senior appointments made by politicians) and has chaired panels dealing with HR matters.

His early career was in the UK power sector working for a regional utility and the industry’s national governing body (the Electricity Council). Simon’s international work has been focussed mainly on the UK, south Asia and Africa.
