This study reviewed and evaluated the likely workforce available to MEDC and, in parallel with this, forecast the demand for resources, taking into account the potential for productivity improvements and changes to the operating environment (these included but were not limited to growth, unbundling, impending investor ownership, regulation). The study identified the resourcing ‘gap’ and made a range of proposals for ways in which this gap might be closed. The outputs from the study were presented to a range of internal stakeholders (including an Executive Steering committee set up to oversee the study, the Board and its Human Resources Committee and the leadership team in each business unit). The final report also included a workforce planning model.
