The German funding agency Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) funded the development of a road map for training and capacity development which will enable the companies to prepare for their future roles – in terms of distributed renewable generation, digitisation, increased automation and the ‘greening’ of the network.  We supported the lead company working with the Indian Discoms – by providing an international perspective.  There may be lessons to be learned from the experience of those companies who are already some way on this journey towards greener and active distribution networks; our objective was to capture and summarise these opportunities and make them available to the relevant organisations in India.
