There has been wide spread coverage in the press during early 2023 of the delay facing developers in obtaining connections to the network. It is said that the lack of capacity is threatening the UK’s target of decarbonising the electricity system by 2035 announced in October 2021 and the net zero strategy ‘Build back greener’ to be achieved by 2050. Solutions are of course longer term and complex.
