The regulatory framework in Oman is evolving, meaning that over time companies’ revenues will be more directly related to their performance.
We have worked for three of the five Distribution and supply companies in the electricity sector as technical auditors of their data collection and reporting on network performance. The specific task has been to verify the reported information on peak demand, secure capacity and demand not secured for primary substations on the network and to provide the correct information based on such verification, for inclusion in company’s return to the regulatory authority. There has been scope to add value by using the analysis to identify weaknesses and recommend improvements across the systems and processes which are used to create and manage the data.
